It's a procedure where blood is drawn, processed to concentrate platelets, and then injected into the target area.
1. Blood Draw – A small amount of your blood is taken, similar to a regular lab draw.
2. Centrifugation – The blood is spun in a machine to separate out the platelets and plasma from the red and white blood cells.
3. Injection – The platelet-rich plasma is then injected directly into the joint (like the knee, hip, or shoulder), or around the damaged tissue.
Is It Effective?
Studies show mixed results—some people experience significant pain relief and improved function, especially in early-stage arthritis, while others may not notice much difference.
