Rebalancing is a holistic body work therapy that strives for comprehensive change in body, mind and emotion. With slow and deep strokes the therapist addresses the highly nerved connective tissue of the fascia and through that the learning zone of the body's regulating nervous system. Sessions may include elements such as body reading and body psychology - and the client may be asked to engage in the treatment process through placing awareness, aiding with breathing and movement or through self reflection. Such comprehensive way of addressing the multi-level body system is designed to leave the client with a profound and lasting imprint.
Traditionally, Rebalancing is conceptualized as a process of 10 or more sessions with specific sessions addressing different parts of the body:
The conception can, however, be adapted to focus on a client’s specific issues and the therapist will, together with the client, develop a treatment plan that is designed to serve the client’s individual goals.
Rebalancing can help with difficulties like: tightness and pain in the musculoskeletal system, hightened stress levels of the nervous system, emotional imbalances and blockages, as well as various posture related conditions (such as sciatica, kyphosis, degenerative disc disease, hallux and more). With commitment toward regular treatment, this technique is most often able to prevent unwanted surgical interventions of posture related ailments. It can also help when a surgery has not brought the expected results. Last but not least, it is an ideal addition to spinal care practices such as chiropractic or spinal flow techniques, enabling the body to integrate the changes of the spine in the body's periphery.
Depending on the client’s goals, the ideal length for a rebalancing treatment will be 75 to 90 minutes. For a treatment encompassing the whole body, a sequence of at least three sessions is necessary. A prolonged sequence of 10 to 15 sessions, within a year or less, will allow in depth changes in the client's body and movement in life.
